I took the old SX850 out to replace the burned out lamps. It won't pull a signal out of nowhere. I bought the amplified Terk tower antenna in 1978 for my new Pioneer SX850 receiver. The antenna did what it is supposed to do. Not happy with that one. I used the Terk antenna on my Kenwood in my woodshop and was amazed how well it works. You have to realize that there has to be a signal for this antenna to work.
As a matter of fact I just ordered a new Terk amplified antenna for my woodshop stereo. I just a bought another vintage receiver for my woodshop in the garage. I restore vintage stereo receivers and shortwave radios as a hobby and this antenna is a keeper as far as I am concerned. I finished up the Pioneer and put her back in the cabinet along with the Terk tower antenna. My weak signals are strong and the stereo quality is excellent. I also have the Terk AM/FM antenna thats not amplified. Have to move it all over the place when I change the station.
This FM antenna is a complete failure. I get better reception with the wired antenna packaged with my receivers. I live 18 miles from Philadelphia antenna farms. Nothing but static and weak signals everywhere in the house with this thing on quality receivers. Still searching for a company that can produce a decent FM antenna after two tries. Terk clearly cannot do this.
This antenna did not help my problem whatsoever.Didn't return it because it may make a good doorstop someday.
I was amazed to get these results. This is the same as HD radio with only a 1 time cost.the antenna.I followed the instructions and best reception for me was floor mount, with 1 exception that should be added to the instructions; keep the supplied power wire seperate from the am/fm wires. i was real happy with the results and bought another 1.
I bought this antenna today, because I was trying to improve the FM reception for certain of my favorite stations, without resorting to listening to them online, or spending lots of money getting HD radio. Why buy this worthless thing. $0.10 if I'm being generous.
I've never written a review on Amazon, but I don't want anyone to waste their money buying this. Perfect. Well, this isn't even worth the plastic it's made of.
Result. After fiddling with the antenna for a few hours, I decided to cannibalize another FM antenna wire (the cheap ones that come with a receiver), joining them together to make the one I'm using twice as long. Cost.
No static, no problems. This antenna is going back to the store.
